Plot

The movie begins with a flashback of four friends, Amar (Akshay Kumar), Raja (Nagarjuna), Raghu (Irfan Khan) and Shekhar (Akshay Anand), who are orphaned and live on the streets. They are taken under the wing of Baba (Gulshan Grover), a gangster who trains them to become criminals. One day, they witness Baba killing a man and decide to run away from him.

In the present day, Amar is an honest and brave police inspector who is assigned to investigate the murder of a businessman named Khurana (Mohan Joshi). He learns that Khurana was killed by Baba's gang, who are now led by Raja. Amar decides to infiltrate the gang by posing as a criminal named Rocky. He meets Raja and impresses him with his skills and loyalty. He also meets Raghu, who is now a drug addict, and Shekhar, who is now a lawyer working for Baba.

Amar also falls in love with Pooja (Pooja Bhatt), Khurana's daughter, who is unaware of his true identity. He tries to protect her from Baba's threats and also tries to convince her to testify against him. Meanwhile, he also befriends Neha (Sonali Bendre), Raja's girlfriend, who is unhappy with Raja's criminal lifestyle.

Amar gradually gains Raja's trust and learns about his plans to rob a bank. He informs his senior officer Saxena (Mukesh Tiwari) about it and asks him to arrange a raid. However, Saxena turns out to be corrupt and informs Baba about Amar's identity. Baba orders Raja to kill Amar, but Raja hesitates as he considers him his friend. Baba then shoots Amar himself, but Amar survives and escapes.

Amar confronts Saxena and kills him in a fight. He then goes to Baba's hideout and confronts him and his gang. He reveals his true identity to Raja, Raghu and Shekhar and asks them to surrender. He tells them that he still considers them his friends and wants to reform them. However, Baba refuses to let them go and shoots at them. A shootout ensues, in which Amar kills Baba and his henchmen.
